It has always been recommended that you should carry out a Ziton ZP3 software upgrade on older ZP3 panels. Especially, if you have a ZP3 panel with software version 2.09. The reason being, heat devices are not compatible with panels that are below software version 3.
It is also a good idea to carry out a Ziton ZP3 software upgrade to have all panels on a network to be running of the same software version. You should definitely not have a mix of software version 2 and 3 running together on the network. This could really slow thing up!
This should be a relatively easy task. You simply buy a ZP3 software upgrade kit and away you go. But recently I have noticed problems with this.
Ziton ZP3 software upgrade kit – the problem
No one seems to know why, but there seems to be a problem with the drivers when trying to upgrade from the special upgrade software from a laptop.
Until this issue gets sorted out, I advise not to use the ZP3 upgrade programmer kit to carry out a Ziton ZP3 software update. Use another method instead.
Ziton ZP3 software upgrade – the solution
The simplest method is to purchase a brand new Ziton ZP3 CPU processor board. Replace this with the original processor board in the panel you wish to upgrade, and then load the programming in from the Planner Software.
It goes without saying that you need to download the existing panel data onto planner BEFORE carrying out the replacement.
If the panel involved is a software version 2.09, then you will also need to purchase and replace the Pic on the motherboard.
This is probably the simplest and most cost efficient method of carrying out a Ziton ZP3 software upgrade.
All products mentioned are available at fire4u.co.uk. If you are able to supply the planner panel data then fire4u can also offer a service where they supply you with a pre-loaded CPU board that you then simply replace.
